Language
The official language in Brazil is Portuguese. The main language of the congress is Portuguese. There Will be translations from English to Portuguese.

Parking
There are around 3 parking sites at the congress centre. Parking Will be charged on a hourly basis, but day tickets are available, too.

Target Public
The target public includes researchers, academics and students, scientists, support technicians, representatives from government and equipment manufacturers and traders. Faculty and researchers from the most renowned universities around the world will participate as lecturers and debaters.

Exposition
Various companies will expose their products during CBTox 2011.
This will be an excellent opportunity for you to reconsider and/or get to know the main products and equipment from areas.

Certificate of attendance
Certificates of attendance Will be provided for all participants. Please ask for the document on-site at the registration desk.

Climate and clothing

Ribeirão Preto has a warm moderate to continental climate. In June, the climate is usually relatively warm (average temperature 25º C).

Congress badges
All delegates and accompanying persons must wear the congress identification badge visibly. Entrance to the meeting rooms as well as the poster and exhibition areas Will not be permitted to any person without a congress badge.

Credit Cards
Usually, all important international credit cards – Master Card, ViSA and American Express – are accepted, especially in hotels, shopping Center or petrol stations. However, we recommend asking before paying by credit card. Drawing cash from your foreign account is possible at some ATM in Ribeirão Preto. During the conference contact the organizers for more information.

Currency & Banks
The official currency is Real (R$). Most Banks are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Foreing currency and traveller´s cheques can be changed in all of these Banks or look for the responsible travel agency at the Congress for the exchange. Therefore, you Just need to show a valid ID.

Electricity
The standard in Ribeirão Preto is 110 volts, venue event is 220 volts, however, there are cities in Brazil with 220 volts.

Food and refreshments
During the breaks of all conference days, light lunches, coffee, tea and refreshments Will be provided in the exhibition area.

Health
There are plenty of doctors of all practices throughout Ribeirão Preto, In case of emergency, hospitals as well as many private clinics are open 24hours daily. There are also many pharmacies and some of them stay open all night long.

Insurances
Participants are kindly advised to arrange proper health & travel insurances for the duration of their stay in Brazil on their own.

Mobile phones
Participants are kindly advised to deactivate their mobile phones inside the congress halls during all sessions and presentations.

Post Office
Post offices are usually open 8:00a.m. until 6:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday). Sending na average letter from Brazil to USA costs abouts 0,50 U$ dollars.

Public transport
Ribeirão Preto possesses an effecient and reliable public transport system. Bus offer daily services throughout the city. A Taxi from the airport to the congress site costs about 14 U$ dollars.

Restaurants
In Ribeirão Preto you Will find a broad range of excellent restaurants offering a diverse cuisine from local classical meals to international specialties, from the lower and middle price segments (10 – 15 U$ and 15 – 20 U$) We highly recommend enjoying the most famous draft beer at the Pinguim restaurant.

Shopping
Ribeirão Preto offers various opportunities for shopping, catering to everybody´s tastes and wishes. There are numerous shops and shopping malls in the city. The majority of them offer an excellent value for Money. Shops are open Mondays to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Sundays shops are open from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Some supermarkets may stay open until 10:00 p.m. or even later at night, seven days a week.

Smoking policy
The CBTox 2011 is a non smoking event. It is prohibited to smoke anywhere inside the conference centre. It is prohibited to smoke in public buildings (including some restaurants and bars) in Brazil.
 
Special needs
Delegates and accompanying persons with special needs are invited to advise the conference organizer concerning any special requirements. The congress centre is equipped with all necessary facilities for persons with special needs.

Taxi services
There are plenty of taxi services in Ribeirão Preto. A journey from the airport to the congress venue/city centre takes about 20 minutes (8km) and costs around 14U$. Most of the accommodation sites are located in walking distance to the congress venue, The other hotels can be reached in about 10 minutes by taxi which costs around 5-8U$.

Tipping
In restaurants, the service charge is always included in the price. Therefore, tipping is not necessary.

VISA and travel information
Brasil request VISA from residents of North America and some European countries. Then we recommend checking the conditions with local travel agents.
